Swimming/Beach Rules


Important Hours of Operation at Front Beach: MBC opens full-time on June 20, 2015. Between June 20, 2015-September 7, 2015 (Labor Day), MBC will have lifeguards at the front beach between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. MBC will also have lifeguards on Saturdays and Sundays between Memorial Day and opening day on June 20.


Safety for All: All swimmers who have left the MBC front dock must be in before 8:00 p.m. daily. This applies to all children and to all distance swimmers who swim across or alongside the lake.


Parents: Please review these common-sense rules with your children. Those too young to understand should be supervised. Your help in assuring that all younger members and guests follow these rules will help to keep the club safe and fun for all.


THESE RULES MUST BE OBSERVED AT ALL TIMES.


No flotation devices allowed when swimming on the upper lake AND on the lower lake on the back beach.


At the Front Docks



  • No running, pushing, flips or spinning on the docks.

  • No swimming under docks

  • No diving or flips off docks or tower. Feet first jumping only!

  • No sliding on your back; come down the slide feet first sitting up or head first on your belly.

  • No going under or behind slide dock

  • No flotation devices

  • No ball playing in water

  • No hanging around with instructors/lifeguards unless you are swimming

  • No hanging on ladder

  • ALL children (including guests) who wish to swim out front must take the deep-end test EVERY SEASON. No Exceptions!

  • To pass the Swim test, the swimmer must swim two laps of freestyle and tread water for 30 seconds. The Swim test will be administered every day at 11:00am, 1:00 pm, 3:00 pm and 5:00 pm. MBC lifeguarding staff will not issue a passing grade based on last year's ability.



All guests under the age of 14 must take the swim test in order to swim to the swim platform. PLEASE SEE INSTRUCTORS.


At the Back Beach



  • There are NO swimming instructors/lifeguards on duty on the Back Beach

  • Flotation devices of any kind, including "swimmies,” noodles and swim vests, are prohibited

  • No one, at any time, should be swimming beyond the rope. (There is a significant drop just past the rope.)

  • No children should be left unattended

  • NO diving from the ramp. Feet first jumping only.

  • No running, pushing, flips or spinning on the dock

  • No rough play/wrestling in the water

  • No ball playing, water guns, bats/swords, Frisbees, etc.

  • No sand or rock throwing

  • Children who are not toilet-trained must wear a swim diaper at all times

  • Beach chairs and umbrellas are not permitted in the water

  • PLEASE, do not feed the ducks or geese

  • Please refill any holes that you/your child have dug in the beach



Children who are observed breaking these rules will be taken to the club office. and parents will be summoned. AFTER 3 WARNINGS FROM THE SWIMMING STAFF, YOU WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE THE SWIM AREA FOR THE DAY.
