Sailing Lessons

The Medford Boat Club offers sailing lessons for all levels.  Sign-ups for the 2010 season are now closed.  The class lists are posted in the Sailing area of the bulletin board at the club.  Information packets regarding the Sail Program are available in the office of the M.B.C.  Click here for more information.

Weekend Regattas

Weekend Regattas are a tradition at the Medford Boat Club.  All Sailors are welcome to participate in the Weekend Regattas.  This is a great way to hone your skills and learn from more experienced sailors.  The regatta schedule is posted at the club.  Click here for more information.  

Important Dates

Regattas are taking place this summer throughout the Massachusetts area.  Instructors are available to coach and assist in the transportation of boats to these regattas.  The complete 2010 Regatta Schedule is posted  in the Sailing area of the M.B.C.  Click here to view all the important dates for MBC sailors this year, including our own club race series and Intra-club events.

PFDs (aka "Life Jackets") Required

PFDs must be worn at all times while on  sailboats, paddleboats, kayaks, etc.  THIS INCLUDES PARENTS!!  PFDs must be  worn by children UNDER the AGE of 15 while on sail docks, fishing docks, work docks, etc.  The Medford Boat Club does not provide PFDs.  Each family is responsible for purchasing, maintaining and storing PFDs.  PFDs must fit properly and securely.  Click here for more information.

Use of Club Sailboats

Persons wishing to use Club Boats must be registered in Sailing Lessons, must have the approval of the Head Sailing Instructor and must have the approval of the Sailing Committee.  

Private boat ownership

Club boats are available for use during sailing lessons.  Beyond the Beginner level, families are encouraged to purchase an N-10 for use in lessons and regattas.  This can be done on an individual family level or as a joint purchase.  There are many postings at the club for N-10s available for sale.  See Sail Staff for more information.

Below is a small list of volunteer items to help make 2010 the Best Year Ever.  Remember, this helps the children and helps earn your volunteer hours!!

    • Assist in the maintenance of the club sailboats
    • Assist in the maintenance of the club powerboats
    • Refill empty gas cans once a week
