Jesse Esphorst funeral

Jesse Eric Esphorst, 16, of Torrance, passed away on March 7, 2017, as a result of injuries sustained in a tragic motor vehicle accident involving two cars that crashed into the van driven by Jesse's father. 

Jesse was born on September 28, 2000 at Torrance Memorial Medical Center in Torrance, the son of Jesse and Julie (DeJaifre) Esphorst. 

Jesse was a sophomore at South High School in Torrance, and was an incredibly talented baseball player who dreamed of playing professional baseball. Jesse was a member of the Torrance Babe Ruth All Star Team that captured the World Series title in Williston, ND in August 2016 and was named Tournament's Most Outstanding Player.

Jesse will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him. He was an amazing young man who was well known in the community.

Jesse was loving, selfless, passionate, respectful, kind, and humble. He enjoyed working with children and wanted to make a difference in the lives of others and in our community.

Jesse is survived by his parents, Jesse and Julie Esphorst, loving sisters Katelynn (19) and Ashley (13), brother and best friend, Cody (15), grandparents, Joe and Anne DeJaifre, Ruth Esphorst and Eric Esphorst, aunts and uncles, Joe and Katie DeJaifre, Kathleen Esphorst and Russ Halleen, cousins Kasey, Rachel and Madison Halleen and Austin DeJaifre, Godparents Larry and Nicole Kruger and their sons Jeremy and Colton.

Pastor Gary Shiohama of South Bay Community Church, where Jesse was an active member, will be officiating the services.

Family and friends are invited to attend a public viewing on Saturday, March 25, 2017 from 5pm-9pm at the Green Hills Mortuary Chapel, 27501 South Western Avenue, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275. The Memorial Service will take place on Sunday, March 26, 2017 starting promptly at 11:00am at the Memorial Day Site of Green Hills Memorial Park and then followed by a graveside service. Private reception will be planned for family.

Casual dress and team jerseys are welcome. Memorial services will be held outdoors.

The family would like to personally thank the first responders, Torrance Fire Department, Torrance Paramedics, Torrance Police Department, Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, coach Grady Sain, coach Tom Sain, coach Tim Blume, South High School administration and staff, students, friends, the amazing staff at Green Hills, the Daily Breeze, local media and our wonderful community! The love and support that we have received is unbelievable. We will be forever grateful.
