posted 07/30/2010 Dear MBC Sail Community,
Many of our sailors (youth and adult) and instructors will be racing this weekend at Cottage Park Yacht Club's Make-a-wish Regatta. For this reason, as you will see, we have not scheduled any racing.
There will be plenty of sailing excitement on our Lake next week with the Midgets N10 Regatta sailing out of Winchester Tuesday and Wednesday and the Junior Championships out of our own Club on Thursday.
We will have club racing on the weekend of 7th & 8th. Hopefully, our Youth sailors will want to try out all that they have learned over the past two weeks of interclub regattas (and show some tricks to those sailors who could not race at the interclubs).
We will keep you posted on the upcoming regattas.
Best regards
Gilmore

posted 07/29/2010 Dear MBC,
we have had another great week of sailing at MBC.
Last weekend's races went very well. We had 40 kids sail in 15 N10s on Saturday and 12 boats sail on Sunday. Saturday had very little wind, but one race was sailed. Sunday was windier and we had 3 races.
More parents and families came down to watch from the shore. Some joined the Race committee on the pontoon boat.
Special thanks to Devin Brown, David Crosbie and Martin Fraser for running the committee. We already have new sail parents learing how to run races and hope to have more join us on the RC boat.
On Wednesday and Thursday, this week, 5 crews represented MBC at the New England Open N10 Championships hosted by Winthrop Yacht Club. Wednesday was windy (20 mph winds from the Southwest) with 1-2 foot swells (the sail area was right beside Logan airport's runways (Airplanes flying over the fleet makes a great spectacle). There was plenty of excitement, but the RC sent all the boats back to the club after one race. Thursday was a better day, with 10-15 mph winds and no swell (the race course was inshore of Snake Island) and 6 races were sailed.
MBC's sail crews did well and truly enoyed themselves. (we have great pictures and video-still learning to upload them).
In the "senior" fleet: Andrew Kelly (Intermdiate) with crew Will(iam) Bedford (Beginner) came 4th; Elizabeth Aliberti (Intermediate) with crew Sydney Kindle (Beginner) came 7th; Connor O'Neill (Intermediate) with crew Alice O'Neill (Beginner) came 12th and Cameron Kelly (Intermediate) with crew Brandon Payzant (Beginner) came 14th.
In the "Junior" Fleet: Emily Brady (Advanced Beginner) with crew Chloe Brown (Beginner) came 8th.
Well done to all!!
Some parents were able to come down and watch the racing and had a wonderful time.
Next Tuesday & Wednesday, WBC will host the N10 midgets (under13s) and Thursday, MBC will host the Juniors. Come down and watch the racing!!

The snipe storage area needs serious clean-up. There are weeds that need to be removed. Old lumber that needs to be thrown away and other stuff needs to be either discarded or cleaned up.

2010 MBC Staff Appreciation Night is scheduled for Wednesday evening, August 11, beginning at 5 PM. This is an annual event to thank our hard-working staff members from House, Sail, Swim, and the Li'l Galley for all of their efforts on our behalf here at the Club this summer. Staff members and managers will be treated to an evening of fun and refreshments, compliments of the Club.
Your help would be appreciated as we plan for this year's event. Adult members are needed to assist in monitoring the swim docks in order to allow our staff to be able to participate that evening.
Donations are also being accepted for a gift card raffle to be held that evening for the staff. Please consider donating pre-paid gift cards as a way to thank our staff members for a job well done. Suggestions include gift cards for and goods or services that a young adult would appreciate - I-Tunes, Starbucks/Dunkin' Donuts, book stores, gasoline, restaurants/fast food, movie tickets, sports stores. Please enclose your gift card in an envelope and deliver it to any member of the Executive Committee or Club Manager prior to 8/10.
Questions? Contact Karen Zoeller at
.
Thank you in advance for your support of our wonderful staff.

posted 01/19/2009 By now most of you have probably heard something about the DCR Spillway reconstruction project. The flag officers (Commodore, Vice Commodore and Rear Commodore) have been in constant communication with the DCR team regarding the project. We are acting in the best interest of the club and the DCR team has been very accommodating. However, until final approval is given to the project, nothing is going to happen. I would be happy to answer (where I can) any concerns and/or questions that you may have.

posted 08/07/2008 For many years we had a phone in the club office as well as a pay phone. It was the pay phone number that was given out by 411 if you asked for a number for the Medford Boat Club. This year we removed the pay phone and are using only the office phone now. However, it came to our attention recently that 411 is still giving out the old pay phone number, which no longer exists.
If you need to call the club, the correct (and only) number is now:
